How to draw blue eyes

The artist

Tina Bojovic

I’ve always turned to drawing and painting to relax and escape from the chaos of life. Art has been my sanctuary, a place where I can retreat into my own world and find peace. I have a particular fascination with drawing eyes, as they captivate me with their depth and mystery, they are often called the windows to the soul. Professionally, I am a university lecturer at the University of Stavanger in Norway, where I am also pursuing my Ph.D. While my work demands a strong analytical focus, I find balance by immersing myself in the creative realm of art.

Step 1

Use Almond Promarker to draw the base of the skin around the eye.

Step 2

Use Promarkers in Putty, Soft Peach, and Orchid to fill in the darker areas of the skin. Wait for it to dry, then repeat.

Step 3

Use Plum, Ice Grey 3, and Pastel Pink in watercolour pencils to draw the sclera (the white part of the eye). Remember, nothing in our eyes is truly white.Use an Almond Promarker around the pupil.

Step 4

Fill the iris with Duck Egg Promarker. Wait for it to dry, then repeat in areas you want darker.

Step 5

Use a Putty Promarker to darken areas of the iris and an Xb Black Promarker to fill in the pupil.

Step 6

Use a 0.1 fine liner to draw the eyelashes and eyebrows. Fill in the eyebrow area with an Almond Promarker.
