How to draw hazel eyes

The artist

Tina Bojovic

I’ve always turned to drawing and painting to relax and escape from the chaos of life. Art has been my sanctuary, a place where I can retreat into my own world and find peace. I have a particular fascination with drawing eyes, as they captivate me with their depth and mystery, they are often called the windows to the soul. Professionally, I am a university lecturer at the University of Stavanger in Norway, where I am also pursuing my Ph.D. While my work demands a strong analytical focus, I find balance by immersing myself in the creative realm of art.

Step 1

Use Almond Promarker to draw the base of the skin around the eye.

Step 2

Use Promarkers in Putty, Soft Peach, and Orchid to fill in the darker areas of the skin. Wait for it to dry, then repeat. Finish by going over the darker areas with an Umber coloured watercolour pencil.

Step 3

Use Promarkers Putty and Moss, and Cocoa in Promarker Brush to draw the iris. Draw the pupil with XB Black Promarker.

Step 4

Use a Cool Grey 2 Promarker, Ice Grey 3, Pastel Pink, and Rose Pink watercolour pencils to draw the sclera (the white part of the eye).

Step 5

Draw the eyelashes using black watercolour pencil. Go over the lashes with a 0.1 fine liner to make them stand out.

Step 6

Use a 0.1 fine liner to draw the eyelashes. Fill in the eyebrow area with Putty Promarker.
