How to draw manga eyes

I’m Dani, a self-taught manga artist. My mother says illustration runs in the family, she, my sister, and my grandfather are all artistic. It was in the 90s, when the series came out called Dragon Ball by Akira Toriyama, that a passion for manga awoke in me.

Step 1

Begin with a Lemon Promarker: Use this as the base colour for the eyes.

Step 2

Apply Sunflower Shade: Quickly blend this with the lemon base to achieve a smooth gradient.

Step 3

Add Praline for Depth: Use the praline shade to create shadows under the eyelid.

Step 4

Enhance with Saddle Brown: Mix this with the praline to add definition.

Step 5

Detail the Iris: Finish by adding intricate details to the iris using a Winsor & Newton fineliner.
