A synthetic lake pigment from the Madder plant, Alizarin Crimson was the first natural dye to be synthesised in 1868. It is a deep transparent red with a blueish undertone.

We've been making our Designers Gouache since 1935 - a tantalising range of 89 opaque watercolours. Popular among designers, illustrators and commercial artists, our gouache paint is perfect for creating bold, vibrant artworks. All these tones are intermixable and you can pair them with our watercolours for a flat, matte colour effect.
